Ladera Realty for the Win with Soilent Green Chili!

Ladera Realty won 3rd place in the Chili Contest at the Ladera Ranch Harvest Festival this year! Chili and recipe created by yours truly! This will be the second year our team participated, the first year we weren't so lucky. This year I decided to base our theme off a tasty hot sauce I found on a trip to Oregon called Soilent Green. So, I gave it a go, I added the not-so-secret ingredient to my Chili and BAM, it was a hit. You may recognize the name of the chili, as it's based on a movie titled Soylent Green, if you were born in the same century that is. It was a Thriller/Drama released in 1973.

The movie takes place in a densely overpopulated, starving New York City of the future. NYPD detective Robert Thorn (Charlton Heston) investigates the murder of an executive at rations manufacturer Soylent Corporation. With the help of elderly academic Solomon "Sol" Roth (Edward G. Robinson), Thorn begins to make real progress -- until the governor mysteriously pulls the plug. Obsessed with the mystery, Thorn steps out from behind the badge and launches his own investigation into the murder.

On the hot sauce bottle they add the chilling line "Better Than People"... I'll let you put the pieces together.

Events like these are just some of the reasons why residents love living here. They don't just call it a community for the sake of calling it a community. They put on community events where you can bring your kids, meet your neighbors, make a pot of winning chili, check out the craft booths, enjoy food vendors from the local restaurants, or even down a pint from the Beer Garden! That's just talking about one of the many events Ladera holds every year, we're not even going to go into the block parties, Fourth of July extravaganza, and Christmas events, that's a whole other blog post for a different day...Stay tuned!!
